A: An antioxidant is a molecule or even a single atom with an extra electron. These extra electrons stabilize free radicals. Your antioxidant defense system shields your cells from free radical damage. Glutathione functions both as an antioxidant and an antitoxin. Glutathione levels can indicate our state of health and are used as a predictor of longevity.
