The Healthy Road to Weight Loss

RKMD Blog 10 years ago

With so much advice about weight loss floating around on the internet, most of us end up being confused about what is right and what is not. We end up doing things we think are helping us shed pounds but are in fact hurting our bodies and sabotaging our health.  Abandoning these bad eating habits will not only help us lose weight but also get healthier and stronger.

Skipping Breakfast

Many people believe that skipping meals promotes weight loss. According to a recent study by the University of Tel Aviv, obese women who ate a bigger breakfast lost more weight than obese women who ate a bigger dinner. Moreover, the women who ate a bigger breakfast experienced an increase in triglyceride levels, linked to Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, cholesterol and other chronic problems.  The bottom line- skipping breakfast is not a good idea; especially for those trying to lose the extra pounds.

Juice Cleanses

It is widely claimed that an all-liquid diet of pressed vegetables, fruits and milk cleanses the body from toxins, aids weight loss and makes skin glow. This is untrue. Juice diets might be popular among celebrities but it is one of the worst things you can do to your body because the weight lost is mostly water weight that returns once normal eating habits are resumed. It also leads to unstable metabolism and irritability.

Diet Soda Drinks

Turning to diet soda to avoid the extra calories actually sabotages weight loss. Artificially sweetened beverages confuse the body and interfere with the body’s natural way of managing calories based on tasting sweet things. Diet soda increases risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure. Experts suggest replacing diet drinks with plain sparkling water.

Cutting out Food Groups

A common misconception is that certain food groups must be completely eliminated to promote weight loss. Opting for only low fat versions or vegan diets may result in losing some essential nutrients. While Trans and Saturated fat from processed foods are bad, it is good to consume fat in moderation from natural sources like olive oil and fatty fish.

Most experts believe that the key to better dietary habits is to incorporate small, incremental changes to our lifestyle over time. Old habits die hard and people who start small have a greater probability of sticking to their new, healthy habits. Supplements like our Original Glutathione Formula™ help the body unleash anti-oxidants that strengthen the immune system and eliminate toxins.  Get back on the road to health with RobKellerMD®.
